5 Pretty Spots to Visit in Georgetown

I’ve lived in the DC area for almost 8 years now and I still can’t get enough of the District’s oldest neighborhood: Georgetown. There is so much to see and do! Here is a comprehensive round-up of my favorite neighborhood gems that you might not have heard of. Add these to your list for the next time you visit!

Cecil Place

I love how the street changes with each season. There are so many pretty angles to capture - whether you take photos of each individual home, or the entire street. It’s a must-see if you visit Georgetown.

P St. NW

Short on time but still want to see as many of Georgetown’s stunning historic homes as possible? Take a stroll down P St. between 31st and 30th St. You’re sure to see plenty of wreaths and seasonal decor. It’s also home to the Emma V. Brown Residence, the former home of Emma Brown, an accomplished poet and the first African American teacher employed by DC Public Schools.

Dumbarton Oaks

Be transported to another world when you visit this sprawling, 27-acre garden. Don’t miss the Orangery, a popular photo spot. It’s beautiful in every season, but April is a particularly excellent month. If you time your visit right, you will see tons of wisteria and other pretty blooms.

Pomander Walk

This pastel colored set of row homes is one of Georgetown’s hidden gems. Be sure to watch out for cars and be quiet and respectful of the people who live on this cute hidden street.

Canal Street

Did you know? When Georgetown first became a booming port in the 18th century, the C&O Canal transported tobacco and coal. I encourage you to stroll up and down this street, preferably with an iced coffee and snack from Baked and Wired in hand.
